Tournament are shaping up to be in full-force during this years E3, which is something that has been becoming much more prominent at the Show within the past few years. With many companies beginning to host more of their own events throughout the year, this gives them an opportunity to focus on more unique things during E3 and get a little creative – and tournaments seem to be the step in the right direction.
The company Twitch has revealed this week that they will also be holding some tournament of their own at this years show, and have confirmed they will be hosting a mini-tournament circuit entitled “E3 Arena” which will be Fighting Game exclusive and sponsored by T-Mobile. The tournament is set to feature titles; Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and Injustice 2, with the event taking place from June 13th-15th. The event itself won’t be held in the actual convention center, rather, you’ll be able to find it at the outdoor space of LA Live which is a short walk from the main venue.
Kristen Salvatore, VP and commercial director of Esports Sponsorship’s at Twitch had the following to say regarding the announcement:
“By teaming up with T-Mobile again after our successful partnership last year, we’re able to cater to fans onsite at E3 and to viewers online worldwide by tapping into these trends with our first ever Twitch Esports Arena.”
