OnGameNet, known for producing some of the most competitive Brood War, and League of Legends content within Korea, may just be stepping up to the table (no, literally) in the world of HearthStone. As many of you may know, Blizzard announced their plans for the WCS 2014 Season yesterday, and while the new details regarding the Season are both exciting, and interesting, a small comment within the announcement, may have been overlooked by many. The official statement is as follows;
OGN has been a dedicated partner for WCS Korea 2013. In addition to hosting a season of WCS Korea and a Season Final, OGN also broadcasted the WCS Global Finals live from BlizzCon on November 8-9. With the goal to provide a more streamlined experience for both the players and the audience, OGN will not be hosting WCS Korea 2014. OGN has rights to run both StarCraft and StarCraft II tournaments alongside WCS and will be able to run WCS global events that offer WCS points. Additionally, OGN will remain our partner outside of the WCS and will produce entertainment shows and tournaments for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
There has not been any further clarification, or discussion on this brief announcement within an announcement, however it is quite exciting to hear, even at this early within Hearthstone’s life (with it still being in closed beta and all), that it is already being looked at as a possible eSports game, with a big company like OGN, already planning to back it. We will keep you covered here, if any additional details regarding this announcement roll out.
