After many recent disputed regarding the use of Super Smash Bros Melee within Competitive Gaming Leagues/eSports Leagues, the fog has finally cleared, and sunshine in on the horizon. Yesterday it was officially announced that Nintendo have given the permission for EVO, and Major League Gaming to use Super Smash Bros Melee within their tournament lineup. Unlike last years last minute dispute with Nintendo rejecting permission for Melee being on the EVO lineup, following many backlash from fans, concluding with a last minute change on Nintendo’s hand, allowing EVO to use and Stream the game; it now seems like Nintendo is much more willing to allow the Smash Bros brand, be apart of more competitive gaming activities.

While at this time we cannot say if Smash 4 will be given the same permission to be used on these circuits, it is nonetheless, a great stepping stone that Nintendo is now on-board with the use of their game being on these circuits. Following the announcement of the CapcomProTour which was also revealed this week, it has been an exciting weeks thus far for Fighting Game Community eSports development, with hopefully more great news on the horizon!
