As we quickly approach 2016, leagues and other companies are beginning to announce and set dates for their upcoming competitive gaming/eSports events. Every year, Nintendo holds the Pokemon World Championships for all those trainers out there who have qualified from various other Pokemon tournaments held around the world.

“The Pokémon World Championships is an invitation-only competition for players who have qualified throughout the 2016 Championship Series season, but there will be fun side events and other opportunities for everyone who attends!”

The Pokemon World Championships is the coming together of both qualified VGC and TCG players, as they compete for the title of World Champion! Nintendo confirmed today that the competition finals will take place on August 19th – August 21st, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel in San Francisco, CA.

The event will most likely feature the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire titles for the Video Game side of the competition. Rumors have been strong regarding the possible release of Pokemon Z in 2016, however, odds are we won’t see the title arrive until holiday 2016, if it is indeed announced.
